Due to the incumbent's upcoming retirement, Seaman Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to provide management and leadership to 350 associates located in two union-free manufacturing sites along with sales and technical associates across the United States. This position reports to the President & CEO and is located in the Wooster, Ohio area. The VP of HR will interface with all levels of the organization from the Board of Directors to office and manufacturing associates, and must be a "hands-on" leader with accountability for tactical and strategic execution as the key HR thought leader.

As a member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT), the VP Human Resources plans and directs all aspects of the organization’s HR strategic objectives and holds the overall company responsibility for recruitment, employment, leadership development, training, performance management, organizational development, succession planning, associate relations, compensation and benefits administration, maintenance of a union-free workplace, crisis management, and governmental compliance.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Champions three of Seaman Corporation’s Key Strategic Measurements: Associate Satisfaction, Skills Development, and Right People/Right Roles/Right Time.
  • Actively involved in Seaman’s annual Strategic Planning, both leading and participating on key strategic teams.
  • Collaborates with all levels of leadership on human capital development needs of the organization to meet annual and strategic goals.
  • Leads Seaman’s succession planning sessions each January and June to ensure current and future human capital needs.
  • Directs the annual Associate Opinion survey processes, communicates the overall results at the Annual Meeting.
  • Ensures the Company meets all EEO/AAP requirements and annual AAPs are updated each year.
  • This position requires approximately 20% travel.

This position requires:

Fifteen to 20 years of professional HR management with increasing levels of responsibility and staff leadership. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or Human Resources; Master’s Degree preferred with Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

Must have demonstrated capability to strategically and tactically create and implement HR strategies, programs and initiatives and have a history of effectively working with organizational leaders to build consensus around a desired culture, people, and processes.
