How Tax Reform Helped an Engineered Textile Manufacturer

At Seaman Corporation, disciplined reinvestment has always fueled our growth. Thoughtful, consistent policy enables us to accelerate that investment – expanding capacity, advancing innovation, and strengthening our workforce.

Seaman Corporation is a family-owned American manufacturer of high-performance industrial coated fabrics used to protect critical infrastructure and assets across a range of industries. The 2025 tax law is helping the company reinvest in domestic manufacturing by expanding production facilities, creating U.S. jobs and growing its portfolio of products.

The business: Seaman Corporation’s highly engineered performance fabrics serve a diverse range of markets, from commercial roofing and defense to architectural structures and environmental containment.

  • “If you’ve ever attended a concert under a large awning, you may have been standing beneath a Seaman Corporation product,” explained Deborah Mazol, the company’s director of government affairs.
  • One of the company’s fastest-growing markets is data centers, where demand for its commercial roofing products has “contributed significantly to our growth,” Chief Financial Officer Brian Geib added.

The tax benefits: Seaman Corporation is undergoing a major 350,000-square-foot expansion in Bristol, Tennessee—and the 2025 tax law, which secured many pro-growth tax policies, will help the company significantly with the project, said Geib.

  • “It will immensely help us with the payback on the project and will help set us up for future investment,” he said. “We can continue to reinvest in our domestic supply chain and set ourselves up for future growth in a better financial position.”

Workforce growth: Seaman Corporation is also expanding its workforce, with employment growing 30% across its facilities in Wooster, Ohio, and Bristol, Tennessee, according to Geib.

R&D investments: In addition, the company has invested heavily in research and development, recently remodeling its quality control labs at both facilities. The projects benefited from the restoration of immediate R&D expensing under the 2025 tax law.

  • “These investments show that the company values both the work we do and the people doing it,” said Quality Supervisor Autumn Fetty. “The right tools and workspace help us focus on producing high-quality results rather than working around limitations. This environment creates a sense of pride in what we accomplish together.”

The bottom line: “Quality is a priority for our company,” said Fetty. Seaman Corporation remains committed to investing in its people, products and facilities, and tax reform provides greater certainty and additional capital to accelerate those investments, strengthening American manufacturing and benefiting customers and workers alike.
