In 1986, the Manatee County School Board had to resolve a twofold problem: leaky roofs that must be replaced every five to seven years, and the continual maintenance that is inherent in these lesser quality roofs. Manatee County has more than 35,000 students in better than 450 buildings, which must withstand tropical storms, blazing Florida sun, high humidity and strong winds. The roofing problem had become a major concern.
This issue was presented to the design firms of David Gracy and Associates and Mark Ramaeker Architects. After careful consideration, they selected FiberTite® Roofing Systems as the solution.
