Tennis Club Becomes Desert Oasis with Innovative Air Structure

Green Valley Athletic Club set out to create an air supported structure using Shelter-Rite® architectural fabric by Seaman Corporation

Green Valley Athletic Club set out to create an air supported structure using Shelter-Rite® architectural fabric by Seaman Corporation

Green_Valley_Athletic_Club.jpgPROJECT DETAILS:

Client: Green Valley Athletic Club
Fabric: Shelter-Rite Style 8028 Opaque PVC fabric with white fluoropolymer coating by Seaman Corporation.
Fabrication and Installation: Yeadon Fabric Domes, Inc.

PROJECT Story:

When Green Valley Athletic Club in Henderson, Nevada, embarked on the ambitious task of creating a cost-effective, clear-span, air-conditioned tennis facility, the choice of an air-supported structure utilizing Shelter-Rite® architectural fabric by Seaman Corporation proved to be a strategic decision. This selection not only helped in constraining construction costs, but also ensured effective control of operational overhead.

Yeadon Fabric Domes, Inc., renowned for their expertise in crafting economical, clear-span sport structures for educational institutions and municipalities nationwide, undertook the construction of this innovative tennis facility. The air-supported structure, housing four tennis courts, features Shelter-Rite Style 8028 flame-retardant architectural fabric with a fluoropolymer coating for its outer skin. Yeadon incorporated fiberglass insulation and added an inner liner, resulting in a structurally sound and energy-efficient architectural marvel.

Situated just outside Las Vegas, Nevada, where the sun’s intensity is formidable, Shelter-Rite architectural fabric not only resists UV damage, but also benefits from a self-cleaning property conferred by the fluoropolymer coating. The R-12 insulation rating, in conjunction with a sophisticated temperature control system, ensures year-round comfort within the structure.

The commitment to long-lasting durability is evident in Yeadon’s innovative approach to anchoring, as well as the incorporation of advanced mechanical and electrical control systems. These elements collectively contribute to the overall structural integrity and longevity of the Shelter-Rite architectural fabric, making it an ideal choice for an air-supported structure in the challenging desert environment.

In summary, the collaboration between Green Valley Athletic Club, Yeadon Fabric Domes, and Shelter-Rite architectural fabric has resulted in a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and resilient tennis facility that not only meets the demands of its operational requirements, but also stands as a testament to the synergy of innovative design and quality construction materials.

Shelter-Rite Architectural Fabrics have been the material of choice of architects, designers and fabricators for commercial and military projects in the United States and throughout the world. Shelter-Rite is engineered with a proprietary coating formula for superior UV and mildew resistance, and unique weft inserted knit fabric that provides excellent tensile, tear and seam strength. This time-tested technology has resulted in architectural structures that withstand years of exposure to harsh environments.
