Seaman Corporation Earns WEDC Quality Growth Award

Community Recognition of Business Impact

The Wayne Economic Development Council recently honored Seaman Corporation with the Quality Growth Award and its Chairman, Richard Seaman, with the Chris Schmid Community Impact Award at its Annual Meeting.

Together, these recognitions reflect the company’s sustained growth and its meaningful contribution to the strength and vitality of Wayne County.

What Quality Growth Looks Like

The Quality Growth Award recognizes growth that is strategic and sustainable — measured in scale and lasting value to people and the community. Seaman Corporation’s recent investment reflects that standard. As noted in the award presentation by Greg Brunn:

“…[Seaman Corporation] has made a significant investment in its future with an $8 million expansion of its Wooster headquarters. This 10,200 sq. ft. addition enhances workspace collaboration and training capabilities, including a multipurpose conference facility designed to support the growing team and foster engagement across the organization. Supported by Team NEO, JobsOhio, and the City of Wooster, this project will enable the creation of 50 new jobs while strengthening Seaman’s operational capacity. More than a physical expansion, this investment reflects Seaman Corporation’s forward-looking approach — prioritizing talent, workforce development, and a strong workplace culture — reinforcing Seaman Corporation’s deep roots and enduring impact in Wayne County.”

Seaman Corporation has operated in Wooster since 1987, growing its Wooster workforce to twice its original size – a testament to building long-term, high-quality careers that contribute to the region’s economic vitality and continued development.

The $8 million headquarters expansion and the creation of 50 new jobs are driven by increasing customer demand. It positions the business to deliver more solutions, more efficiently, while maintaining the same standard of performance.

Just as importantly, we view this investment as a responsibility and a privilege. As we expand, we remain committed to contributing to the strength, stability, and prosperity of the Wooster community – the place we call home.

Richard Seaman – Investing in People and Community

The Chris Schmid Community Impact Award recognizes leaders whose influence extends beyond their organization and into the communities they serve. Richard Seaman’s recognition reflects a long-standing commitment to both. His leadership has consistently shaped growth decisions with intention. A tribute video captured it well: “his focus wasn’t just on building a company, but on investing in people and strengthening communities.” (Watch the video). That philosophy continues to guide how Seaman Corporation operates today.

Growth That Is Built to Last

These recognitions underscore what sets our business apart.

“It is an honor to receive the Quality Growth Award and to see Richard Seaman recognized with the Chris Schmid Community Impact Award.  This reflects our long-standing commitment to investing in people, innovation, and the Wooster community. These recognitions reinforce our belief that sustainable growth is measured not only by business success, but by the positive impact we create for our associates, customers, and community.” – Jeff Swartz, CEO

Seaman Corporation’s progress has always been grounded in thoughtful investment: in its people, facilities, and the communities where it operates. That commitment will continue as the company builds for the future.
