Dome Top Finish Comparison – Brite White Tedlar® film vs. Acrylic top finish

With architectural fabric, looks matter for more than just aesthetics. That’s because accumulated grime and mold break down coatings and destroy fabrics. Self-cleaning products reduce or eliminate this persistent threat and look great while doing it. It’s important to look for a product that’s truly self-cleaning throughout its lifetime. As shown in the comparison video DuPont™ Tedlar® protects the structure, better retains color, keeps it looking great and makes maintenance a snap.

The Guelph Community Sports Dome, located in Guelph, ON, was installed in 2007 and is fabricated with Shelter-Rite style 8028 Opaque White with Brite White Tedlar film.

The Com Dev Indoor Soccer Park, located in Cambridge, ON, was installed in 2008 and is fabricated with Shelter-Rite style 8028 Opaque White with an Acrylic top finish.

While these architectural fabric domes were constructed at a similar date and geographic location there is a clear performance difference between the acrylic and Tedlar top finish. Looking at the domes now, 15 years after the installation was completed you can visibly see which structure was produced with Tedlar protection and which was not.

Seaman Corporation offers a range of top coating systems, and Tedlar is the most proven with a track record of over 35 years. Tedlar film is known for superior performance in exterior applications such as vinyl siding and architectural shingles and provides a high-performance, long-term, durable surface for excellent weathering resistance and colorfastness.

In addition to providing another layer of protection, a top finish improves the cleanability of your structure. Unlike standard top finishes, Tedlar provides color stability and exceptional protection of the architectural-coated fabric.
