The Stanleys Cup is named in honor of two legendary business and civic leaders - Stanley C. Gault, former CEO of Rubbermaid and a 1948 graduate of The College of Wooster, and the late Stanley Welty Jr., CEO of Wooster Brush. Each year it recognizes a Wayne or Holmes County organization that actively encourages philanthropy among its employees, and whose leadership is actively engaged in the community.

These men spent much of their lives giving back to others - a mentality that Seaman Corporation was founded on and continues to prioritize today.

United Way leaders noted the history of Seaman Corporation, its grass roots beginning and how it has grown over the past 74 years. From the basement of its founder to a multi-generational globe operation, Seaman Corporation and the Seaman Family believe in creating sustainable futures.

Susan Meade, vice president of human resources for Seaman Corporation, and Jason Seaman, grandson of founder Norman Seaman and member of the Seaman Family Council, accepted the award on behalf of Seaman Corporation.

"This award means a great deal to us at Seaman," Meade said. "It truly is a testament to our employees who give of their time, their talents, and financially to the United Way, along with many other organizations that strive to make a difference within our communities."

During the United Way's annual meeting, Seaman Corporation was also honored with the 2022 Corporate Per Capita award. This award is calculated on amount of the corporate contribution divided by the total number of employees.

In addition to donations and volunteered time from family members and employees, a percentage of Seaman Corporation company profits are earmarked to the family philanthropic foundation to help solve social issues - with causes that align with the company's mission.
